microphone problem

i have hp pavilion dv6 notebook pc and i find out that my microphone is not working i tried recording but hear nothing checked the volume and everything is working fine but still don't know the problem?

are you sure you checked everything

yes all check and by the way when i try the speech recording i get a message the wizard couldn't start, make sure your hardware is working properly

have you tried trouble shooting it? what does it say after trouble shooting? have you tried connecting the microphone to another computer and see if it does the same thing there? did your microphone come with any installation disc?

couldn't identify the problem and i have no disc installation

have you checked if its listen under sounds,video and game controller in device manager?

does this microphone have a scroll key to make the volume louder and lower?
