i downloaded virtual pc .. then downloaded xp mode following the instructions ,,, when i open xp mode from the start menu ,, i am told that i need to download another file for xp mode to work ,, i click on the box to download the file and get a message that the file already exists ,,,,why do microsilly go out of their way to annoy people and drive people away from them at an alarming rate ,,, i have never known one single thing that ever works ,,,, i have started the process over again from scratch , but end up with the same result ,,, now it will not validate my copy of windows because i have tried too many times ,,, thanks so much microsilly for ruining another day ,,, one of so many ,,,

Do you happen to recall - or can you look in the "view installed updates" - what the 3rd thing was that you had to install.

Not a big deal - just wondering. thx

OK, then I am nobody and you do not know how to search. Searching about Virtual PC Integration Device here at the Seven Forums finds a lot of threads and posts explaining it, among them this one from me which I posted three years ago:

It is completely normal, not a problem. There are no drivers to this Virtual PC Integration Device.

When you boot a Virtual PC machine, your host (Windows 7) thinks you are creating a Remote Desktop Connection. Some really confusing terminology: You use a Client computer (host machine, Windows 7) to connect to a remote Host computer (virtual guest machine, XP Mode). For these two computers / machines to be able to communicate, Windows creates a so called VPC Bus (Virtual PC Host Bus Service) between the two computers, in your case between the Windows 7 and XP Mode.

Each time these buses are created, they can be seen in virtual machine's Device Manager. They need to be there, but because they are not device drivers per se, you'll see the exclamation marks. Let them just stay there, don't try to remove and / or disable them.

If you right click one of these Virtual PC Integration Devices and choose Properties from context menu, you will see that the Device Status is "This device is working properly".

More about remote Desktop Connection: open the Windows Help & Support, type Remote Desktop to search field and hit Enter. Choose Remote Desktop Connection: frequently asked questions.
