Microsoft intellitype pro Keyboard drivers get installed everytime I boot my computer after an optional windows update.


Hello,
I am having a problem now after installing two optional windows updates here.
Microsoft - Other hardware - Microsoft Hardware USB Keyboard
Installation date: ‎2/‎21/‎2011 3:08 PM
Installation status: Successful
Update type: Optional
Microsoft Other hardware software update released in December, 2010

do you happen to have an MS keyboard?
Try to install the MS Internet KB Pro software manually and see if it stops installing it every time you boot.
Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Hardware - Download Software

after it is installed, and doesn't try to install at every boot, uninstall it and see what happens on next boot.

Hi Zepher, yes im using a microsoft keyboard and tried that before, doesn't work.

I am having the same problem here. Just after the optional update yesterday as well. MS Wireless Keyboard and Mouse 5000. Pretty irritating.

A dude at microsoft answers found a possible solution, it worked for me too:

Here's what he did.

1. If your Windows user account has a log-in password, you'll want to disable/delete it first.
2. Go into System, Device Manager, Keyboard Device, Right click on Properties, Go to Driver, Click Uninstall (Advanced).
3. Unplug your keyboard from the back of your computer.
4. Reboot your computer.
5. After Windows comes up, plug your keyboard back into your computer, and then reboot.

Oh man really? that's a pity, are you sure you followed each step?

I had the same problem tonight. Should say that today I've done a clean install to install SP1. Everything was fine until I created a second account (standard one) then when I logged off that account and went to the admin, the message started occurring about the keyboard hardware installing. Just going back and forth logging off and on between accounts the message would occur.

I tried several variations of that given above and solved it on my system by:

-uninstalling the driver in device manager, and the software in Control Panel Programs.
-unplugging the keyboard, then rebooting and reinstalling the software from the disk that came with the keyboard.
-plugging the keyboard back in and rebooting.

Edit: I bought this keyboard probably 3 months ago and had no trouble until tonight.

Problem fixed for me. Scanned for hardware changes in device manager, it then downloaded the keyboard driver and no more problem.
