I have a wireless ergonomic sculpt keyboard & mouse

I've enjoyed it but have always had connectivity issues.

It only seems to work when it's almost perfectly flat, anything vertical and it cuts out, skips letters or doubles them.

I've didn't have Microsoft Mouse & Keyboard Center at first and then once I installed it it seemed to fix the issue and connectivity with the keyboard was perfect in any position or distance.

But for whatever reason it stopped working perfect after a short period of time. I've unistalled/installed Microsoft Mouse & Keyboard Center multiple times and it doesn't seem to fix the issue and now I tried to reinstall it and install it again and even after a reboot the program fails to load right at the very end.

I've rebooted, re-downloaded the most updated file and still the same results upon install, it crashes and requires to be closed, yet installs to where it shows up in my start menu but crashes upon final bootup.

Hi JohnnyScience, have you tried another keyboard and mouse to see if they also has problems? It sounds like a driver problem!

I can't even get the software to install any more, it keeps crashing right at the final moment of install. I uninstalled it and rebooted and still can't get the software to install.

Microsoft even put out a new version the other day and it still won't install properly.

Perhaps there's an old file from the install I had on here before that's making it crash?

No I'm not familiar with it, is that an entire system scan?

Hi JohnnyScience,

No I'm not familiar with it, is that an entire system scan?

SFC [System File Checker] is a Windows utility program for detecting and repairing any corruptions in the protected system files of the Windows OS. If any files are missing or corrupted, they are replaced with a cached copy that is located in a compressed folder at %WinDir%\System32\dllcache. The %WinDir% placeholder represents the Windows OS folder C:\Windows.

If you think this might help then I can post the instructions for you!

It only seems to work when it's almost perfectly flat, anything vertical and it cuts out, skips letters or doubles them.

Perhaps it is time to ask Santa for a new keyboard & mouse! :-)

Yes please post those instructions, I'll give it a try. It makes no sense why this program won't install.

The keyboard works fine in certain positions, it's the connection that's goofy and makes it skip and stutter

Hi JohnnyScience,

Yes please, post those instructions, I'll give it a try. It makes no sense why this program won't install.

To run SFC [System File Checker], please follow my instructions below!

SFC [System File Checker]

SFC [System File Checker] is a Windows utility program for detecting and repairing any corruptions in the protected system files of the Windows OS. If any files are missing or corrupted, they are replaced with a cached copy that is located in a compressed folder at %WinDir%\System32\dllcache. The %WinDir% placeholder represents the Windows OS folder C:\Windows. SFC MUST be run from an elevated command prompt:

  • Click Start.
  • In the search box type cmd.
  • Right-click the cmd icon from the search results under Programs and select Run as administrator.
  • The elevated command prompt window will now open.
Copy sfc /scannow [yes there is a space there] and Paste it [you need to use the mouse right-click and paste for this as CTRL+V doesn’t work] into the elevated command prompt window and press Enter. When the scan has completed re-boot.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT close the elevated command prompt window until the verification is 100% complete.

IMPORTANT: It might ask for the Win 7 installation DVD to enable SFC to make more than minor repairs. Some files saved on your computer might get deleted during this process.

The scan results will be shown after this process is finished. If any errors are reported, then run it again two or three more times, re-booting in between. For some reason, this can make a difference. I think it has to do with the settings.ini file sometimes showing false positives! If after that, you get a message saying Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them, then post the CBS.log in C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. I am sure that someone here will be able to look at the log file and give you an answer or advice.

This tutorial [Published by Brink] will show you how to upload the file => Screenshots and Files - Upload and Post in SevenForums.

The keyboard works fine in certain positions, it's the connection that's goofy and makes it skip and stutter

If it is actually a fault with the keyboard itself, then it really might be time to ask Santa for a new keyboard & mouse!

I hope this helps!

Well I uninstalled the keyboard and mouse software again, ran that test & it came up with 0 errors, I rebooted and tried to install the keyboard software again and it's still giving me the same error message, which is really just a generic message, it doesn't even really give me any info on why.

Any other options or should I just give up at this point lol
