Tried an important windows visual update (I assume it was visual) downloaded it, installed it ,and it prompted me to please restart. Instead I just just down my computer, hoping I could restart it and sort it in the morning. However this morning when you turn it in, the speakers and mouse and keyboard all work but there are no visuals. I can't system restore because not even the bios will show up. Just a big nothing on both monitors and the TV . Don't know what i can do other than tried messing around with all the cables. To no avail. Everything was working fine so assume it's not monitor, cable or graphics card malfunction please. What can I do?

You can start by reseating the video card (make sure the power cables are connected). Do this with just one monitor connected.

If that doesn't change anything, remove the card and plug in your monitor to the on-board video. If the monitor starts fine - the card may be bad.

I turned it on off a few times and left it for 20 minutes, came back and turned it on to find it fixed itself. the desktop icons were all over the place but everything otherwise normal. went to windows update to find the critical update had failed and it could now not be retried, so i selected a restore point before the update, restored, installed the update successfully and everything seems fine. so not sure what happened. my computer has a mind of its own sometimes.
