I have been using Windows 7 Movie Maker for many years for small, easy video projects with no problems and it suits all of my needs. After recording a video on my phone, I upload it to Google Photos on my pc to view the video on a larger screen (my monitor), then download it to my pc, open it in Movie Maker. This has always been the process with no issues. A couple of weeks ago, after download to my pc, Movie Maker only plays audio, no video. I opened Media Player, same thing. The video will play in VLC Media Player, but that does not have the tools I need to edit my videos. I have two other Win 7 pcs with Movie Maker installed, and it's the same, audio, no video. What happened to cause this?

Thank you.

Most likely the video was recorded in a format that Windows cannot handle. As you can play it in VLC, then you should also be able to use VLC to convert the format to one that Windows can use.

The camera on my phone records ALL videos in mp4 format and always has. As I mentioned above, this problem only started a few weeks ago.
