I would try to run the office diagnostics in the Excel Options and see whether it can be repaired.

I see you are using Office 2010 in x64 mode, so I wonder if that is the reason, as according to the help file in my Office 2013, certain things are not available in the x64 version, that are in the x32 bit version. The following is a copy extract from those help files.

"The following are some things not in the 64-bit version of Office.
ActiveX controls library, ComCtl This library contains ActiveX controls used to build solutions. It is most commonly used in Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word.
SharePoint List control The list view in SharePoint Technology isn’t available in 64-bit version of Office."

This may not have anything to do with your problem but thought it worthwhile mentioning in case it does help you.
In fact Microsoft recommend installing the x32 version which is the default, except in cases where you are dealing with very big spreadsheets or databases that require large processing power, such as in a business environment or similar.

NB. Simonsez9 your system specs show you are using Win 7 Ultimate x32, so perhaps that needs updating.
