Multiple crashes on several installs. ntoskrnl.exe and hal.dll 0x109

I built a computer back in May...a few weeks later I started getting BSODs. They don't happen all too often, about 1 or 2 times per week.

After trying to google the issue, they suggested running memtest - no errors, driver verifier found nothing, etc. So I re-installed windows, the same thing happened, I re-installed windows again, still get a blue screen every once in awhile.

Then I noticed my power supply started making a humming noise, I ignored it, then one day it sparked and died. I thought that was the cause of all my issues until I replaced it with a temporary one and a few days later got another blue screen.

So, I'm not sure what the issue is and would greatly appreciate any help getting to the bottom of it. It's always either ntoskrnl.exe or hal.dll, I didn't keep all the crash dumps from my previous installs.

Did you correctly calculate the PSU size? Psu calculator - Windows 7 Forums

Did you wipe the HD of all boot code using Diskpart Clean Command before Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 which steps are the same for retail? Follow the driver steps closely as this is not XP .

My PSU size was much more than I need. I need about 500W, mine is 1000W. I was limited upgrading my graphics card last time by the PSU wattage...so I may have went a little overboard. Would that cause any problems?

When I reinstalled windows, I just deleted the raid array and created one again. That's probably not the most thorough. But next time I have time to re-install windows, I'll do a little more research on how to do it properly. I'm still skeptical it will actually solve anything however.

Remove the RAID both from it's controller at boot (if one) and in BIOS setup under SATA controller setting - set it to AHCI.

Unplug or disable all but target HD, boot Win7 installer to wipe with Diskpart Clean Command, then follow the steps here for Best Practices to Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7
