2 computers here, upgrading with every leak. Ran into the first bug I can think of from doing this, from 7227 SP1 to 7229. Even after reboot and everything else working fine, the cleanup utility hangs every time at Windows Service Pack Cleanup.

+1 on that.
Wasn't that the modded VHD build? Might be something to do with that

Perhaps it is a hardware issue... a dead zone on the HD maybe? Did you run a disk check?

No, it's not hardware issue. It is because I had 7227 with SP1 and the newly installed 7229 doesn't. So the cleanmgr.exe on 7229 obviously doesn't know how to handle the SP cleanup and I'm basically reporting it here.

Check the screenshot of where it stalled. And also, this is on 2 separate machines upgraded equally.

I also tried some different flags (cleanmgr.exe /setup and cleanmgr.exe tuneup) from the command prompt for cleanmgr.exe and I was unsuccessful in riddng the bug.

this is where I am at and I have tried working (cleanmgr.exe) from different addresses
also tried "CCleaner" and "Scandefrag" (in bootup).......nothing

Tried "chkdsk /f" etc,etc

no we've got the obvious out of the way........any ideas?

Well, I'm thinking that if I can manually delete whatever SP files there are that is causing this to hang, cleanmgr should run alright after. I'm not really sure which they are though or where the folder is that it should be deleting.

I too have tried looking for the service pack.......really i'm not sure what i'm looking for,
files, addresses etc. That was hours ago.I saw mention that Vista and XP had a related issue.I'm not sure though can't get my head around where they are related.
I suppose a reformat will fix it......but who wants the cowards way out eh!
