Hello to all, my laptop constantly uploads and downloads. It has uploaded 21mb in past 24 hrs and downloaded 43mb in past 24 hrs. I Have run Malwarebytes anti-malware(free), Iobit malware fighter(free), Kaspersky tdss rootkit removing tool and Norton & Norton power eraser, All clear, computer still constantly uploading and downloading. I don't have anything running in the back ground (dropbox, googledrive, utorrent etc all stopped). Am I missing anything here? Is this normal? What else can i try please?
Thank you for reading and i look forward to any help.

Hi there,
The amount of data doesn't seem too high.
There are all sort of updaters running in background either as services, scheduled tasks or startup processes.
Adobe flash and pdf, Windows Update, Google update, Kaspersky, Norton computer repair, Java they all want to be up-to-date and
the more software tools you have installed the more will be active online.
But I guess that mostly explains downloads not 21MB uploads.
Some SW will send anonymous usage data to make the product "better" in future versions.
This is something one may have agreed to here and there.
You can try and use msconfig to control the amount of active processes and services. It'll allow you to isolate the issue. (Start>Search box>msconfig)
I'd also love to know where you got the info from about the 21MB upload.

best of luck

This is how a can see how much i have uploaded and downloaded

Your upload / download figures are so low there's nothing to worry.

Every time you open a web page your PC sends your page request to the net causing upload, and retrieving that page to be shown on your browser causes download. Programs make update checks, again causing traffic on both directions, your Norton will "phone home" every now and then as well as do Windows Update.

It is practically impossible to have a computer connected to the Internet showing 0 bytes uploaded / downloaded.

Maybe you should try opening task manager and looking for program's that look unfamiliar or maybe look in your program's list for an uploading/downloading program (usually gaming) otherwise it is probably automatic updates :D
