My Acer Aspire S3 laptop had been doing fine all the while and suddenly one day, when I started it, it keeps n restarting and bringing me to a page where it prompts me to start windows normally or launch repair. Ever since that day, everytime I try to start my laptop, it will bring me to that page and would say that my computer cannot start up. After a while, this became less common but my computer would have an extremely slow startup like 5 min or so and would be extremely slow, with programs constantly not responding, I have done disk checks and cleanups but they all dont work. I read something about multiple antiviruses softwares and I have uninstalled Norton and Mcafee, leaving only a recently installed Trend Micro Internet Security. Please Help!

It the date it started acting strange is fairly recent, I would try a http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/700-system-restore.html This will put your PC back to the way it was on the date you choose.

Welcome to the forums!

I concur with bigmck, a system restore to a point before this happened should be tried first. (Easiest is always best!)
If that doesn't solve the problem , you could try a sfc/scannow to check for any corrupted system files. Here's a link on how to do that if you haven't before, just click on the link : http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html

You say that you just recently switched to a new Anti-Virus correct? Did you COMPLETELY remove the old one(s) before installing Trend Micro? Look at these and try to run them:

http://fix-kit.com/Norton-Uninstall...ns&cid=1369518131&kwid=10909760713&nid=2&vx=o

How to uninstall or reinstall supported McAfee products using the Consumer Products Removal tool (MCPR)

Both of those A/V's are notorious for leaving behind bits and pieces when trying a regular uninstall.

Hope this helps!

thank you all for the quick reply but now my computer cannot even start and directs me to a page where I have to choose between launching repair startup(where it just hangs at the "scanning for problems" page) or start windows normally( where it hangs at the starting windows page)

Hi, I tried system restore but they said that I did not have any restore points and now my laptop hangs at almost every single command. It even said my battery was faulty and I needed to replace it
