Solved my heads going to go bang

why do i have to confuse the matter.
i have an acer aspire m1640 which last wk my motherboard blew.
it had win vista built in but the motherboards for these have a reputation of going wrong so i bought a gigabyte insted and win7.
now i have a problem how to remove vista which the motherboards trying to run. and also how to install win7 through the bios system.
i would like a little bit of help as im new to this

There are no operating systems built in to motherboards in the manner you describe here.

They have to be installed on drives which the motherboard accesses through it's BIOS. The BIOS has to be set up correctly.

Normally, in order to install an operating system, you place the Disc ( DVD ) containing the system in your DVD drive and allow it to boot.

If you don't know anything at all about this, then it is better to get somebody else to help you.

You'll have to boot the DVD if Vista will not start on the new hardware, as is likely.

Restart, Enter BIOS setup by tapping Acer F2 key, set DVD drive to boot first followed by HD, or use the Acer one-time BIOS Boot Menu key F12 to trigger DVD at boot. When prompted to Press Any Key to Boot DVD, do so.

Next close Recovery console, select Install Now, Custom Install, use Drive Options to Delete partitions, create New as you wish, Format before install. Screenshots of each step here: Clean Install Windows 7 - Windows 7 Forums.URL

If you have the Upgrade version, the installer will scan the HD to see Vista at bootup, allowing use of Upgrade version key up front. If you wipe the HD first, you'll need the workaround given here to activate after install: Clean Install with a Upgrade Windows 7 Version - Windows 7 Forums.URL

First reboot and hit the F2 key when the Acer splash screen comes up to enter the BIOS setup.

There should be a Boot (or similar name) item in the menu that you can get to with the arrow keys, and then change the boot order (F5 and F6 keys IIRC) so that the DVD-RW (DVD-ROM) is the first boot drive. select F10 to save and exit and press enter.

Make sure that the Windows 7 install disk is in the DVD drive and reboot. The following tutorial shows how to do a clean install:

Vista may not run on your new hardware, you need to install the Windows 7 software by placing the DVD in the DVD Drive, and then restarting your machine. You will then see instructions on the screen how to proceed.

You may have to set up the BIOS to make the machine boot from the DVD.

right ive pressed f 12 for boot options and got a list with boot from 1 floppy 2 ls120 3 hard disc 4cdrom 5 zip 6 usb-fdd 7 usb-zip 8 usb-cdrom 9 usb-hdd 10legacy lan

Do you have a DVD or combo optical drive? If so, it may be choice #4 although it says only CD-ROM. If you don't have DVD drive you'll need to install one or format a USB stick in another machine to install Win7.
