Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

Your Dell Inspiron will have the product key stuck to the underside of the laptop casing. You will forgive me for sounding cynical, but I've got a sneaking suspicion you're going to tell me the sticker is badly worn and you can't read the product key.

Of course, it shouldn't be because you've told us your friend bought the computer recently.

If the computer was bought recently, why didn't it have Windows pre-installed?

Why didn't your friend burn a set of factory discs?

Why have you contacted this forum rather than your friend?

Please don't be offended, but this all sounds rather suspicious, so at the first sign of piracy my input will end, as discussing piracy is against forum rules.

well , It had windows pre installed since its corrupted we are going for new re-installation , And the retailer want some cash i think ... if any problem means we ll bring to him , he 'll just reinstall and he can earn (he may think like that) so we got just installation cd from other ..
I don't think its a piracy......!

In that case, why Home Basic?

Downgrading from Home Premium doesn't make a lot of sense.

Did you find the sticker with the Product Key?

If the seller doesn't help you can always buy a set of recovery discs from Dell.

In Dell's own words, their installation discs are only to be used for the computer they were supplied with.

Going back to your reseller and getting him to re-install Windows seems the best option to me.

Did Home Basic come with the Dell? Look at the COA sticker to see what the licensed version is. You can unlock all versions in the extracted ISO from the DVD you have: Unlock any version eicfg removal tool

Then follow these steps to get a perfect reinstall of the licensed version using the Product Key on COA sticker: Reinstalling Windows 7

If you don't have a COA sticker on the bottom of laptop or under the battery, then take it back to retailer and tell him you want one. A machine which is sold with Win7 without a COA sticker is illegal and should be reported to MS Customer Service.

Thanks bro:)
