Need to lock down terminated employees laptop remotely.

Our company supports over a thousand laptops in the field.

We need a way to lock down terminated employees laptops remotely. So that the ex-employees cannot access the laptop at all. Hopefully this would deter them from not returning the laptop if they cannot use it.

When we deploy a laptop to an employee we set it up with the a company admin account password protected and the employees account which is also admin. that way when the laptop comes back to IT we can access it.

I have thought of pushing a batch file out that would disable their specific user account but they have admin accounts so some of them can create a different account than the one we create for them. so without knowing about the other accounts I can't disable them and they would still have access to the laptop.

I was hoping there would be something free I could implement. Lo-jack software is too expensive.

Does anyone know of a solution for this??

It would help if you could define exactly what "lock down terminated employees laptops" means. The post is very sparse on details.
