I hope this is the right place for this thread. I have a printer (HP 4101mfp) that has e-mail capabilities. It has worked in the past and then I ran in to problems where it would not send anymore e-mails. Been sitting on my "thing to do" and I have time now.

My previous settings were smtp.comcast.net in the "send" area of the settings, but it does not seem to work anymore with that. So I signed up for SMTP2GO and entered that smtp settings and still no joy.

The error I am getting is "Gateway not found"

I have the following equipment;
Windows 7 64-bit Pro
HP Laserjet 4101mfp with firmware 3.804.6
Router is WNDR4700
Cable Modem
ISP is Comcast

I read bits and pieces that the printer may use port 80 and that the router also uses that for the USB drive which I do have installed, but not sure.

I have also read bits and pieces, but nothing clear about if you can change the printer ports for this printer.

So I am at a loss here and just wondered if there is anything I can also look at or if there is someone here who may have had the issue and knows how to resolve it?

sounds like something has gone amiss with the ip address for the gateway. Try this first: unplug both the modem and router(if you have a router) and wait about a minute or so; then plug the modem back in first and let it boot; then plug the router back in and let that boot. Try that. If that does not work: open a elevated command prompt(click start, programs, accessories, then system tools, then command prompt; then type ipconfig /release then once it releases; ipconfig /renew. Try one or both of these things out and see what happens.

Thanks Matts. So I did the first one; unplugged router and cable modem. Waited 7 minutes and put back online via what you said; modem first and then router. Then computer and then printer. Still no joy.

Here is what the web interface looks like to set up e-mailing within the printer.

Now in the picture if you select either one of the options I circled in red and click apply, the printer display on the printer says it is either searching or is testing. After about 30 seconds the display on the printer then says "Gateway failed"

If I use the printer keys and do this;
Arrow down to "Send Options" and press OK
It tells me to wait, then says "e-mail gateway not responding" so it's like the printer is trying to use the smtp.comcast.net, but it is not getting a response. I guess that's what it is doing.

Anyways, tried the command prompt, still same results. So just can't figure this out.
