Just finished installing W7 Home Preimum on my daughters computer. All went well except for this one problem.on boot up the connection to the internet is disabled. I tried different drivers and still the same thing. The only way I have gotten it to work is to go to the network adaptor and disable then enable and it connects.
Any good ideas what the problem might be?
Already updated the driver from the genaric windows to the NvidiaNForce driver
I have the newest one I can find on Dell's site. It is an Inspiron 531 with the onboard network card. All I can find is that it is called the NvidiaNForce Networking adaptor
It shouldn't matter I think. Just download the highest numer (9) and use it.
If doesn't help, tell me make and model. I will tell you correct one.
Edit: Nevermind. I see info. Looking now.
Give this a shot: It's nForce 430. Install by using the device manager only for network adapter. Right click network adapter. Update driver software. Browse. Let me pick. Have disk. Browse. Find the .inf in the extracted folder for lan or ethernet and double click it. Hit ok. Let it install.
Having a quick look at Dell's site their Windows 7 Compatibility list doesn't seem to list the 531, could this be a clue? Torrentg has the best suggestion ignore Dell's site and go straight to nvidia.
