network problem causing frame rate issues

I just recently started experiencing bad frame rate issues in Source games. I installed Windows 7 Home x64 about a week ago and at first things were fine. Then out of the blue (about two days ago) I started experiencing horrible frame rates in TF2 and Zombie Panic Source. I was getting about 15 FPS or less according to the game but it felt even worse than that.

It seems to be a network issue on my end. I tried installing the latest driver for my NIC and that fixed the problem until I rebooted and found the problem was there again. So I ran the setup for the driver and chose repair and it worked again...until I rebooted. Then I found that just going into the network and sharing center and the change adapter settings section that if I disable and re-enable my network it fixed it again. I have to do this every time I reboot. It's not that much of a problem since disabling and re-enabling the network only takes a few seconds but it is frustrating not knowing what is causing this. Does anyone have any ideas?

Besides your NIC card what type of router do you have? Is it up todate with the newest firmware? Also try disabling IPv6 if your router does not use IPv6. Also another item to try to disable is the Windows Homegroup in the network section.

My router is an Asus WL 500g premium v2 running DD-WRT firmware v24-sp2. I've had this router for a few months though and didn't have any issues like this with the Windows 7 RC or the final build of 7 until a couple days ago.

I tried disabling IPv6 on my network and disabling Windows Homegroup. After rebooting I still had to disable and re-enable my network connection to fix my frame rate.

I have the same board and noticed the same issue. I'm using iRacing and it has an onscreen latency monitor and I can see the latency go up and the frames drop by over 1/3. I'm going to play around with different drivers today. Last night I tried disabling services like Windows Media share and Windows Search, but no luck.

Wow! I am having the same problem, here's my specs:

Gigabyte GA-P35-S3L
C2Q Q6600
4GB RAM
Nvidia 8800 GT 512MB
Xi-Fi Extreme Gamer

So, we have the same mobo, same memory, and same video card. I'll try this network disable thing...

Edit: IT WORKED! What a weird problem. I have a D-Link Router that's using a special firmware. So it must be our motherboards or something.
