Network structure..

Thanks bud..I had my structure designed and now modified a bit according to your suggestion..not to forget ion's too.

The changes now I have made is, I have removed the wifi router and will use my wifi modem provided by my ISP. The signals will be boosted by AP's. Also, hubs are gonna be replaced by switches again.

Now I need the brands and model numbers for the switches and AP.

Quick question: Are you using wireless from the ISP modem to the internet or are you hard wired/cabled?? If not then anyone connecting to your ISP modem via wireless will be by-passing the firewall.

Yep you are right, this is the reason I opted for a wifi router. As of now, my ISP has provided only a wired modem.

Is it possible to first connect my firewall box and then the wifi modem(purchased from isp)??

That wont be possible, but alot of modems these days have built in firewalls, an example of this would be my old Verizon dsl modem: Westell 327w.

well did you have anything in mind? basicly its up to you. in reality any switch will work aslong at it has enough ports for your needs.

sorry for the late responce, was away from the internet too long ;)

Ok pal..no problems. :)
My ISP modem doesnt have such a thing and we own a separate UTM firewall box already which I cant dump. :(
Will this work,
Internet - modem from ISP(not wifi) - firewall - switch - wifi AP/server

RJ45 is the end connector, Cat 6 is the type of cable. Cat 6 will work well for what you are doing, but if you want to save some money you can use Cat 5e. The "e" is for Gigabyte speed.

As far as the AP it really is up to you there are so many to pick from. For commercial applications I like to use Cisco, typically they work better and have less down time. But for something small like you are doing you can use Home Office AP's and they should work well. -WS

I have used the following for small offices and they work well, however I don't know if they will cover the 2500 feet you talked about in the above posts. You could buy one for each cabin and that would work since you are going to have a wired connection as well.

Amazon.com: Cisco-Linksys Dual-Band Wireless-N Gaming and Video Adapter: Electronics

Others:
Amazon.com: Cisco-Linksys E2100L Advanced Wireless-N Router: Electronics
Amazon.com: Cisco-Linksys E2000 Advanced Wireless-N Router: Electronics

This has great reviews, but again I do not know if it will cover 2500 feet.
