Solved Next backup date shows as 12/30/1899 12:00 AM

Hello,

I have been searching on how to correct this error. When I open Windows 7 Backup Program, I'm getting the "Next backup date shows as 12/30/1899 12:00 AM"?

I have been changing it to eveyday at 6 p.m. and run the backup.

After a reboot it changes back to "Next backup date shows as 12/30/1899 12:00 AM"?

This has just started sometime in the last month.

I have seen this question posted in Microsoft's Forum but can not find the fix. The last answer to this common error is use a different backup software. I'd prefer to stick with Windows backup.

Does anyone know if this bug has ever been squashed?

Hello Rockit,

Double check to make sure that your time and date, time zone, and BIOS CMOS date is set properly.

Also, check in Task Scheduler (taskschd.msc) as below, to see what the AutomaticBackup task's "Trigger" date is set as, and change if needed.

Task Scheduler Library\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsBackup

In addition, you could see if resetting Windows Backup to default, then set up a new backup to hopefully sort this.

Tried all your suggestions and still having the same issue. I even tried a new battery on the motherboard.

Like I said this one seems to have allot of people stumped. It is all over the web and in the Microsoft forums with no fix. I'm going to try a few more idea's but it may require a clean install of Windows.

Any other tips I can try would be greatly appreciated

Since this started last month, it may be a Windows Update from the second Tuesday responsible. I'm not seeing the issue though.

You might also go through the Windows Backup logs at the location below to see if they may have anything in them. Double clicking the .evtx file will open it in Event Viewer.

You might give this a try below to see if it may help narrow down a cause since it's resetting to that date every reboot.

I tried deleting the previous backups and doing a clean install. Also removed all scheduled backups and changed the time of day when setting up the backup schedule again. Went threw the registry and cleaned it up some.

The Problem is still there.

Sorry about the typo, I was trying to refer to the clean startup link that was provided in the previous post.

But I understand your frustration. I will keep a eye on it and if I'm able to find a way to correct it, I'll post back. I may do a clean install but not till I have the time.

Now I did a clean install and the backup date and time seems fine.

I did attempt to restore this system to a backup from a month ago and it would not complete it.

I kept getting a error about "not enough space" This has started happining ever since I installed a SSD and cloned my old Hard Drive to it.

I'm starting to loose hope that Windows built in backup will work with a SSD.

How much free space do you have on the backup drive and the drive you are trying to restore it to?

The SSD is 128 gig and has 93 gig free.
The backup Drive is a IDE internal WD Blue 320 Gig with 142 gig free.

I tryed a system recovery and selected to exclude the Backup Drive but format the SSD. It failed.

I then just selected it to restore the SSD without checking the format box and it worked.

I have had issues with Windows Backup ever since installing this SSD. Before with a Raptor it always worked fine.

Thanks for the info. I also copy my files everyday so no data was lost.

But I do tweak out Windows so that is where I can lose all my settings.

You might consider using Macrium Reflect Free to see how it may work for you as a backup option instead since you are having a rough time with Windows Backup.

I think it has something to do with the SSD and the Windows 7, 2 partitions.
I was just hoping to not have to install another program on this old build.

Hello!

I did a lot of work to fix the 30.12.1899 issue in Windows Backup and restore, and could not find any help. Finally I disabled the Internet Time Synchronization, and the correct Backup schedule stayed there!
So, I´ll wait the fix but have no pain because the scheduled Backup and restore is working, I only have to set the correct time manually, think 2 - 3 times per year.

For anyone else that comes across this thread this is something that had bothered me for a long time. I've had this issue off and on since I started using Windows 7. Finally, I just started playing with the task settings (which can be found by searching for tasks in the start menu, then navigating Task Scheduler Library > Microsoft > Windows > WindowsBackup).

I would just try a setting at a time and then check to see if the date in the backup settings reset to 12/30/1899. What finally worked for me was changing the "Configure for" setting on the General tab of the task to "Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2". By default "Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008" is selected when Windows Backup creates the task. Once I changed it, I haven't had a problem with the date changing since.
