i am trying to create a new site in dreamweaver. the site will have a coldfusion extension (.cfm). i am the only user on my notebook so i have complete administrator privileges. however, when i try to save the site in the c:\inetpub\wwwroot\ folder (because that's where coldfusion applications are saved) i always get an error.

the error says: "you don't have permission to save to this location. contact the administrator to obtain permission."

i thought i was the administrator? i am unable to change the settings in the security tab in the properties panel either. that is the extent of my troubleshooting capabilities. i'd really appreciate any help with this matter. i am a web student and i am unable to complete my assignments because of this issue. thanks in advance.

Change the location of "wwwroot" to a location within your user directory. Can do this via the IIS control panel.

Thank you for your response. However, I am not sure how to do that via the IIS control panel. My only experience with the IIS control panel is stopping & starting the default site in order to use XAMPP/Apache. My online search of the process was not successful. Can you please explain the process or provide a link that will? Thank you again for you help.

In IIS Manager, right click the default IIS site - > Manage Website -> Advanced Settings.
Change the physical Path property to the desired location.
