I have Windows 7 professional 32 bit and I use a virtual system program called Virtual PC 2007 to play a game called Mech Warrior 2. The guest os I use for that is Windows 98. The problem I'm having is that the music will not play during missions and midi music plays at a low bit which plays in the background before missions. You can actually listen to the tracks by putting the game disc into the computer and listen to the tracks like on windows media player. However, that is not the case in the virtual pc system. It can show the tracks and time lengths but cannot play them just skips through all of them. So at least besides fixing it at most, what is going on here? Is it a bug? Drivers not installed correctly? What? A reply would be appreciated from anyone including administrators! Thanks! P.S. sound effects work fine

You will need access to you win98 cab files or windows 98 installation disk.
First, close down win98 virtual machine. Go into virtual PC settings, make sure soundblaster 16 is selected. Start up your windows 98 cancel any sound installation that pops up. Go to Windows 98 control panel, add hardware, say no if screen pops up asking YOU if THE install is related to one these items. Keep going until you can choose manually then sound. Choose Creative, then select sound blaster 16 with Awe xxxx . Hope that works. That is all I know, I just stated using this program myself.

I have done a clean install of Windows 7 using Dell re-installation disk (Dell sent me one). I also use Free Macrium reflect backup and restore.
Thanks! I actually got the programs I want to use working through dosbox now but I'll see what that does! Thank You so much!
