No Pictures or Videos are shown on this device. iPhone 4s

I have tried to import photographs to my Windows 7 PC, but when I select the 'Import' feature, a window opens stating "No Pictures or Videos are shown on this device." When I open the "Photos" application in my iPhone 4s, it reveals lots of pics. What do I need to succeed, or what am I doing wrong? Thanks :eek:
