Norton Internet Security

Hi,

I was just wanting to see if anyone has had any problems with Norton and Windows 7. I recently installed build 7100 on my mother's machine and she insisted that Norton was installed. I eventually relented and installed it, but it only seems to cause problems... Anyone else??

The link is for Norton Internet Security and Norton 360, and 2009 should work but yes some people have had problems.

I had enough problems with NIS 2009 that I gave up on it despite a 2+ year activated subscription still ticking down. Worked great on Vista.

Using NOD32/ESET Smart Security as a trial for now, and keeping fingers crossed Norton can get their act together sooner rather than later.

Anyway, not sure how their compatible betas and whatever were going, and with the two-week expiration limits I didn't bother. And I'm even liking ESET so much so far I might switch anyway. I'd personally hold off on the Norton with Windows 7 for now -- too unpredictable.

Oh yeah, this computer came with a Norton 360 2.0 trial, and im about to upgrade to 3.0 because the trial is about to expire. So yeah pretty much everything that is compatible with Vista works with Seven.

Norton AV surprised me with easily the best interface for a paid AV product. Problem is its broken in W7 - the Heuristic Driver doesn't work - in conflict with something. Had to let it go coz without the heuristic driver its severely crippled.
No doubt that Eset-NOD feels very at home in 7 - all works.

I wonder how much all this is just academic with Microsoft Security Essentials (ex-Morro) free and already working so well even tho its effectively in alpha.

If you go to Windows 7 Beta Compatibility - Norton Community you can see that many people are having problems with the latest beta version of NIS 2009 and Norton 360 for windows 7. I'm a long time Symantec user and i'm sure they will get these problems fixed asap.

I was using the latest 360 beta myself, and also experienced the problems others are having, so for the time being i'm using Comodo. But when NIS and 360 are fixed, I'll be switching back.
