Norton Utilities - from the grave to your PC, soon?

Well, I was all excite about NU - until I found out that their 'new' toolbar contains elements of the Ask.com toolbar.

Sorry, but I have lost the last shred of respect I had for Symantec. They want to partner with Ask.com, screw them - they can shove their software where the sun doesn't shine.

I will never ever ever use or recommend their software again and I have pulled out of their beta testing program (I was currently testing Lightning v3)....

When a company loses its focus and makes profits more important than a good solid product that performs and performs well, it's time to shoot the board and start over.

Aw, come on ... tell us how you REALLY feel! :roflmao:

Yeah Great detection rates, lower system footprint than Kaspersky, NOD32 or whatever todays latest flavor is... What is there to like??:D

Ha! I'm never using another Norton product again. They lost my trust years ago and they can never regain it back. Real Player is about the only other product I feel such distaste for. That was another dog.

The Norton Utilities was pretty good in its day but the AV sucked donkeys -- slowed machines down, corrupted registries and then when you tried to remove it, you could NOT uninstall it. Some sarcastic guy online finally clued me in and said, "You mean you don't know to go to their website for the Norton Removal Tool?" WHAT? Norton Removal Tool? How is the average consumer (which I am not) supposed to know about that? I used to build computers in my spare time and I didn't know I had to use such a thing.

How about including a decent uninstaller that works or letting you use Add/Remove Programs like every other software? No, Norton can't code worth crap so they had to create a special removal tool for when they screwed up your system so bad you couldn't uninstall it yourself.

SLOW, SCREWS UP YOUR SYSTEM -- worse than the viruses they are supposed to protect you from! Every year I hear reports of how Norton has changed, how they learned their lesson and they are better now. No, never going to fool me again.
