Hi everyone.

Yesterday I was looking for a driver for my old webcam.
Therefore I installed a program named '' Driver Detective''.. However It did not do the job ( It seems like it' some sort of a scam based the research i've done about it)...As a result I've deleted it. As soon as I've done the work I wanted to do I had shut down.

Now here comes the real problem:

When I started pc, my monitor was showing a blank screen saying ''No signal input'', though I still could hear the GPU fan spinning at full speed. I could get the image back up again by connecting my monitor to my onboard card, but why is my onboard working instead of the 8600GT? I did not open the case or whatsoever. I've also noticed that on driver manager it's not showing the 8600GT, instead it's showing the onboard card (7100). I've disabled it by rightclicking and was hoping that it would show the 8600GT instead. But it didn't fix the issue. I've also tried to uninstall the drivers and reinstall it again (64-bit display driver and chipset), but no luck so far. Also I can't seem to find the option to disable the onboard card through bios.

This problem has never occured before, not until I installed ''Driver Detective'' crap.

Any solutions?

Your best bet is to do a system restore to a point before you downloaded Driver Dedective (which is a scam). This will reset most of your software settings to exactly how there were before the problem began.

EDIT: Also, if you tell us them model webcam, one of us might be able to find a driver for you.

One thing I know of that you can try to fix system restore is to open command prompt and type "chkdsk /r" without the quotes and then restart the computer. That might help.

Troubleshooting System Restore is not exactly my cup of tea, so I'm going to rally the troops and see if someone with some first hand knowledge in fixing it can help.

Hello again. A friend pointed out to me that the Driver Detective software may have been bundled with some malware and it is a good idea to do a virus scan. What AV do you use? In addition to doing a scan with your regular anti-virius it is also recommended to do a scan with Malwarebytes free. Another thing that was suggested was using the system file checker. Please refer to the link below.

Onboard graphics will vary by BIOS provider. It should be in Onboard peripherals, Hardware or similar. PEG will be the PCIe slot if that is what you have.

same story. I've put a 9500gt and plugged the vga cable to the gfx card. I could hear the fan spinning but the screen is giving me a blank screen saying ''no signal input''..same story with the 8600gt..the monitor is up again if i plug it ito the onboard

and on bios there's no option to turn the onboard graphics card off..(couldnt find anything on the manuel either)

does this have anything to do with it?'':allocate IRQ to PCI VGA =>set to YES''

I guess this seems like a simple one, but did you make sure the drivers for your video card were installed? Use the drop down menus at the link below to select your card and get the most up to date drivers.

Can you be more specific with your motherboard? The 630i/7100 has a Geforce 7100 GPU on board, you should be able to disable this in the BIOS, if not make sure VGA INIT FIRST is set to PCI-E not PCI/on board. Also BEFORE installing the graphics driver, install the 630i chipset driver (available from Nvidia or the Manufacturer).
You should also have an option to adjust the shared video memory, set this to the minimum or disabled if available.

Also where i refer to PCI-E above, I may of course be talking about AGP, as the 8 series was of last of the AGP breed from Nvidia, I believe the 8800GTX was the most powerful of which.

Another point is does the card have a requirement for supplementary power from the PSU (6pin) and if so, has it been provided.

EDIT: That option can be either enabled or disabled, this will not affect the plug-in GPU but will determine whether the onboard VGA will be assigned an Interrupt Request channel or not. You wont do any harm enabling and disabling this option for test purposes.

Had the exact same problem and fixed it.
Shut down, Remove the card, boot up, shut down, put the card back in. The BIOS then detects a "new" card and automatically disables the onboard graphics.
