nVidia nForce Network Problems

I hope that's the reason this isn't working...

When I start up my computer (Windows 7 Ultimate (not the beta)) My internet connection thing says it can't connect because I'm trying to link to multiple networks. Well, that would make sense... if I were using a wireless network. I'm using a network cable to router and cannot access my own network. But even that's not the problem. I don't care about my network. I just want to connect to the internet.

Well, to get a quick fix I must disable my network device, and re-enable it. Then it acts as if there was never a problem.

Today, before I did that I wanted to see what the problem was, so I opened the status of my network connection. I am receiving all kinds of bytes but not sending any. So then I disable and refresh my network connection and it all works.

I fixed this in the beta, but forgot what to do now that it's been 3 months. Can anyone help? Thanks.

EDIT: I also tried updating the drivers. No good.

When you first boot, and you can't connect, what do you get when you run an ipconfig /all? Open a command prompt then type:

Code:
ipconfig /all

Copy/paste the results here, please.

Driverguide.com . Even if abit went out of business driverguide would still have some drivers. According your post Nvidia is the man. of your NIC, go to there sight and try some different drivers. I had issues with vista and a nic card, and had to use a 98 driver to make it work. The problem is MS is cranking out an O/S before hardware manufactures have time to create bug free drivers. Alas MS only cares about itself...... Just an observation not trying to start a debate.

I didn't say there are no drivers, I said not to expect any Windows 7 drivers. If you visit Abit, you'll find drivers for older operating systems for that particular motherboard.

Quite a few people with IN9 motherboards have had issues with Windows 7; the link I posted to the nVidia forums is a lengthy thread that covers a lot of nForce issues and possible solutions.

I do, but the moment the window opens, it closes and I can't read anything.

Does the board have more than one NIC on it? If so, try the other one. I have an old EVGA nForce board and it connects fine (only Vista drivers available).

That said, I think you would be connecting to the internet only through your LAN, so you might look into that first.

I just previewed my post and after looking at it, does it have anything to do with the default gateway being 0.0.0.0 and how would I break that one? Thanks!

EDIT: Keg, I downloaded, but nothing new happened. Thanks, anyway.

Here's a couple of things to do....

1. Make sure your network drivers and Router firmware are updated.
Check your Router settings

2. Go into SAFE mode (hold F8 at boot)and see if the issue still occurs. If not, it is probably an application that is being loaded at start in normal mode.

Thought I'd throw in the solution that worked for me. What follows is a copy of from the Microsoft forum: default gateway not available in windows 7

Hello Guys. I found the solve on a Nvidia forum. Its works perfect for me.

This solution was found in another forum. And it solved the problem for me. I am using Windows 7 Ultimate x64. And the constant network disconnects was getting bad, especially during steady downloading.

What you need is the nVidia Vista v15.25 (32bit or 64bit) motherboard driver.
64bit URL: NVIDIA DRIVERS 15.25 WHQL
32bit URL: NVIDIA DRIVERS 15.25 WHQL

I ran into a problem immediately when the driver installer did not display the Ethernet menu item.
I had to do the following to get this fix to work. Note that it applies to the Win7 64bit version:
1) Uninstall any Nvidia Ethernet drivers.
-- Reboot.
--the Windows 7 default ethernet drivers get installed in their place
--verify and note down the filename of the Network Adapter driver filename that Windows 7 uses.
2) Do the following:
--go to the location where the Nvidia installer unzipped the v15.25 files on your hardrive. Under the Ethernet folder, find the v15.25 Ethernet driver file "nvmfdx64.sys" (file version 1.0.1.6789) and rename it to the Windows 7 x64 default Ethernet driver filename "nvm62x64.sys".
--copy nvm62x64.sys to c:\windows\system32\drivers (archive the old default file first).

Reboot.

This has worked perfectly for me. No loss in any functionality that I'm aware of, and my network is now stable again.
