Solved OCZ SSD freezes pc weekly, looking for alternate option

Do you have an OCZ SSD?

Their firmware is known to have been causing crashes.

SSD Firmware Updates *CURRENT FIRMWARE RELEASE is v1.37

I have not seen any reports related to the Intel RST drivers, I'm currently using 11.1.0.1006 and have used most of them from before 9.1.1.1016, with Intel SSDs and have had no issues with any of them.

If that works in your case then it's all good, but may not work for others.

I have the OCZ Vertex 3 Agility Firmware 2.2 - running on Win 7 Ult. I have been reading a lot of reports of this issue, and many people may not be experienced with the ability to change the AHCI to IDE in bios / and switching the driver in safe mode.

I agree that what I stated is situational at best. I present a theory and in my case a work-around to MY problem. So far with [ENHANCED] [IDE] i have not had any freezing in the last 24 hours during a HDD Burn in test :geek:

*** CAN WE GET MORE SAMPLES OF THIS!! USERS SWITCHING TO IDE ***

To reiterate my OCZ Vertex 3 Agitility set in [ENHANCED] [IDE] using the current INTEL NON AHCI SATA drivers, the drive does not freeze anymore.

Cheerios

HAd same problem, now solved

Hi,
i had random system crash, now i solved:
configuration: Asrock K10n78D (nForce 720d) + OCZ Agility3 (firmware 2.2)
OS: Windows 7 Pro x64
issues: system crash, error on nvraid0 in the system event log

Solution:
- changed AHCI drivers to default one (no nvidia, in system->devices->AHCI device), shut down
- changed cables and plugged the SSD on SATA5 port, other HD (sata2) and DVD-RAM plugged on SATA 1 and 2
- Updated MB Bios (1.8)
- loaded default bios configuration and set IDE to IDE mode (all drives are automatically revealed), save and restart
- Windows starts and auto-installs IDE drivers, restart
- in bios configuration set IDE to AHCI mode, save and restart
- in bios configuration check IDE configuration to reveal all drives and set right boot order, save and restart
- Windows starts and auto-re-installs default AHCI Drivers, restart
- Windows works well now!

No errors for now and all seems to be faster!

In case of any more issues i will switch to IDE mode, but i hope not.
