Office 2003 file saving problem

Not a fan of the Office 2007/2010/2013 ribbon so I continue using 2003. Beginning a few days ago about half the time when I save a file what happens is that a second file is created with the same name and "- Conflict 1.xxx" is appended to the file name. It is happening in both Word and Excel.

Any idea why this happening and what to do about it?

Hi jjstephens.

Not sure what is causing the problem but you should eliminate there being any corruption within the office product itself.

Have you tried to run a repair?
