Ok I am running 64 bit Windows 7 and I put in the CD and try to install office and it just locks up and "windows is trying to find a fix" or whatever and nothing...

I get to enter my CD key in and it just crashes as soon as it starts the install.

The new Open Office is doing the same thing...
Also the Zune software...

any help would be great.

Thanks.

I have Office 2007 Enterprise running on Windows 7 x64 without any problems so do not understand why you should be having difficulties installing it. Is there any error messages?

No it just locks up for no reason..

All three Office, Open Office, and Zune software.

Only 3 things that I can't install for whatever reason... All my other apps installed with no problem!

Hello adamd.

I've installed "Office Home and Student 2007" many times in all of the builds (both 32-bit & 64-bit) I've tried so far with no problems at all; have you tried to install them in Compatibility Mode?

I haven't had to.

Adamd - out of interest, can you access Windows Update, or does it crash Windows Explorer?

(I know this seems a bit of a random thing to ask, but bear with me!)

Ok Microsoft is good that's all I have to say lol!!!!

They found the problem that I ran into and a ton of others seeing how packed that one thread posted was.

"start regedit
navigate to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\SQMClient\Windows\DisabledSessions
rename MachineThrottling to _MachineThrottling"

thanks so much. Office 2007 is installing now.

Guess everything in Beta mode can't be perfect ha.

i have windows 7 professional version. I tried installing office07 trial version. DOwnloaded the file from internet. Ran the compatibility update for that setup file. It extracts everything but during installation it just frozes or dunno what happens. It shows nothing. No errors no problems. Was looking at that screen for 30 mins and nothing happened. I tried the regedit method. But in my registry file there is no option for HKLM, what i see is HKEY.

PLease help me out.

RESOLVED ERROR 1402 OFFICE 2007 on Windows 7 64 bit

Hey all,

Managed after 3 days  to resolve this issue
I have 4 PCs running Windows 7 RTM (direct from Microsoft BTW)
2 X 32 bit 2 X 64 bit
Only one dell 64 bit machine had this issue all the others where fine with Office Ultimate install so its not obviously not universal
All these PCs had RC running previously and where upgraded by modifing cvversion.ini on the iso see Engineering Windows 7 : Delivering a quality upgrade experience
Never the less updating the old office installs to Office Ultimate 2007 was only a problem on this one unit so not sure why different
Partially resolved by How do I restore security settings to the default settings? following the instructions for Vista to reset security settings then restarted the Office installer.
Low and behold a new error 1317 cannot write to C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\OFFICE\DATA I then installed this permissions fix Take and Grant Full Control Permissions and Ownership in Windows 7 or Vista Right Click Menu » My Digital Life retried and voila success at last!!!
A terribly supported problem I have to say particularly when its two microsoft products
Hope this helps someone else in my position ;)
Best

Peter
