Greetings! I've been trying to change the ram my old Acer Aspire x3910 (OEM) and I've run into a few problems along the way: The mobo is a wg43m with latest bios according to acer support the Ami P01-B2. So ,originally it had 2 samsung sticks 2x2gb ddr3 1333mhz PC3-10660 cl9 M378B5773DH0-CH9. Those run at dual channel at 667mhz each. (Despite the fact that acer claims that the supported ram is 1066mhz.) The new rams I purchased are 2 Kingston ValueRAM 2GB DDR3-1333MHz (KVR13N9S6/2) has the same features, yet it isn't accepted from the mobo and keeps beeping. So I thought I should change bios settings, but to my dismay I didn't find any ram settings in the bios, or any overclocking options for that matter!
Unfortunately the old rams and the recommended ones from Crucial are out of reach in my country, and the kingston ones are the closest (and cheapest) option available.
Has anyone successfully upgraded a wg43m mobo before? If I reset the CMOS settings, is there a chance that it harms my PC?

Even with the computer of, memory has power.
Did you take the PS cord out of the PS and wait 1/2 minute to capacitors discharge before removing or inserting the memory?

Hell Gyustarr and Welcome to SevenForums :)

See below some links for your motherboard.
The 1st one provides also the compatible memory modules for each manufacturer.

Yeah. I've been in those but kinda hoped the kingston one would be compatible since it isn't in the database of the 2nd site at all. I hoped I was missing something. Since it has virtually no reason to reject the ram.

I just unplug the cord and press the power button per the manual's istructions. Is there a specific procedure that I have to follow before inserting new ram?

Touch bare metal of the case interior to discharge any static in your body BEFORE touching the RAM. Never touch the electrical contacts of the RAM sticks - handle by side edges only. Then carefully the location of the notch in the contact edge and align that with the corresponding key in the socket. These ensure the RAM can only go in one way.

Note your manual should also show how to add or remove RAM - perhaps with illustrations too.

Resetting CMOS settings won't do any harm to the system, it just sets everything to default but the time.

Any RAM will do just fine but always remember it only supports 1333mhz. Some 1600mhz sticks will work but will be down clocked to 1333mhz or the PC will not boot at all.
