Hi there
For a lot of people the ability to mount ISO's natively on a REAL (not a Virtual) Machine was a great addition to the basic functionality of Windows.

This worked really well on the preview edition of W8 (the one with the sideways fish at longon) but doesn't work properly on a few computers I've seen.

(This is also AFTER a brand new install -- so it's nothing to do with any user installed drivers / components).

It also only happens on machines that have an INTERNAL DVD drive too -- it doesn't happen on my Netbook for example which doesn't have a DVD drive - even when an external USB one is attached.

You get the message "XXXX couldn't be mounted" or "Error in mounting XXX" -- can't remember the actual error as I'm typing this on an Android smart phone -- having a delicious Breakfast in a nice old fashioned "Greasy Spoon" place --before it gets replaced by those odious trendy "Trattoria" or whatever.

The Iso does actually get mounted by windows explorer on to a "Virtual DVD device" correctly and can be "ejected" when you've finished with it but the error message that appears every time is very annoying even if it can be safely ignored.

I REALLY LIKE this feature - also great when you'v extracted say two or 3 DVD ISO's to a usb stick --then mounting the DVD ISO's and playing the movies.

Cheers
jimbo

Hmmmm...I haven't noticed any issues with the mounting of ISO files in the Preview Release of Windows 8.
