Solved One short beep, one long beep

I was just using my PC yesterday, everything is normal, It was hot around 32 °C I think. Around 3:00 P.M. my PC suffered 2 BSODS, I can't upload the .dmp files because I can't open it. I thought its just overheating so I turned it off and after a few minutes the second BSOD appeared, I restarted my PC and the one short beep and one long beep is sounding. I checked my RAM and tried to switch it to another bank but the beeping is still there. My video card temp was 50-52 °C before the first BSOD happened. What can I do to fix this?

Is it possible you are hearing 1 long - one short?
That might indicate a BIOS CHECKSUM error, depending on the brand of BIOS.

You can try a ClearCMOS procedure (CLRTC is the same thing):

• Note all your current BIOS settings
• Shut down the computer > remove the power cord.
• Remove the 3v motherboard battery.
• Move the CLRTC jumper from pins 1-2 to 2-3.
• Touch a metal part of the case and Press and Hold the reset button for approx. 30 seconds to discharge all power from the board.
• Put the CLRTC jumper back on pins 1-2.
• Replace the 3v battery > replace the power cord > boot.
• Immediately go back into BIOS and reset all your preferred settings. If the CLRTC worked you will need to reset the date and time.

Well, it`s always a process of elimination, but if it was working fine, I`d start with the video card, then the memory. If you have nothing to swap, then you have to get the dump file uploaded so it can be analyzed. It could be something as simple as your video driver, download and reinstall.

32 Celicius is not hot at all, 89.6 F

Clearing the cmos could also be a good starting point. If you`re not sure how, just ask.

Well I tried to move the ram to another bank but the problem is still there, tried switching from video card to chipset but problem is still there.

First I would check the HP support for the beep codes.

Try another PSU, I'm surprised your 250 watt PSU works at all with that video card!

True, the minimum PSU for the GT610 is 300W.

That code is supposed to be for a memory problem:

Whether it's really as simple as RAM gone bad, or whether it could be due to a motherboard or memory controller (part of the CPU), I don't know.

If you can swap in some known good RAM, that might solve it for you.

Try this,

RAM (memory):
This will require memtest on a bootable CD or USB stick.
RAM - Test with Memtest86+
If the machine won't boot, download Memtest from another machine and burn a CD. You don't need w7 for it to run.

@Bobkn: I have another RAM from an old laptop but its half the size, If it works, how can I remove the RAM from a laptop?, It's an HP laptop.
@Britton30: I can't even turn on my PC to run Memtest86+ since the monitor says "No signal", I'm already using my PC with that card for more than a month.

You can't use laptop RAM in a desktop PC, and vise versa. laptop RAM is SODIM, the SO standing for Small Outline and won't fit.
If you don't know or are unsure what the BEEP code means do the following. Disconnect everything not needed for the PC to post. All you need is the power supply, motherboard, CPU with heat sink, one stick of RAM, Video card (use onboard video if it has it), monitor and keyboard. Disconnect any and all USB devices except keyboard, also disconnect your optical drives and hard drives and any add in cards like wifi, sound. etc. Reset the BIOS to defaults as per your motherboard manual. Then power it up and see if it will POST.

To reset the BIOS power down the PC and unplug the AC power cord that feeds the power supply from the wall outlet. Now press the case power button to discharge any residual power left over. Remove your case side panel and take precautions to avoid static discharge. If right handed just put your left hand on the power supply case to discharge any static before you touch anything else. There should be a reset CMOC/BIOS jumper on the motherboard, usually close to the CMOS battery. In most cases you move the jumper (plastic shell) over one place (pin) and then back to its original position. Make sure its back to its original position before you power up or you could damage your motherboard. The other method is to remove the little coin battery for about 5 min or so. There should be a little metal tab you move to eject it. If you go this route make sure you put it back in the correct polarity. There should be a + on one side and a - on the flip side. The plus side is usually up (facing you).

Just a sitrep guys,
My friend tried to use my PC, I told him that there is a beeping noise coming from the PC, this time he didn't hear anything, it was quiet but the monitor says "No Signal", he tried to switch VGA outlets but it's still the same, but when he tried to unplug the PC and return it, the beeping sounds came back. A few days back, while cleaning the case, he saw an aluminum foil, it came from a chocolate wrapper. I'm thinking that it came from a Tobleron or those Cadberry bars, the foil is touching the case and the Mobo. Could that make a problem?

It's conductive, so it could conceivably short something out. One side of my brain is highly skeptical but the other side is reminding me that stranger things have happened. What have you done so far for troubleshooting, aside from finding the chocolate bar rapper?

Problem fixed guys! It was just the CMOS battery, I did reset the battery and it worked fine, I'm currently using my G41 chipset. .dmp files will be uploaded shortly, I'll give reputation to those who helped. Also how can I change my display properties, I have the Nvidia drivers, but I'm using the G41 for now.

Edit: I said on the #1 post that there is 2 BSODS but the PC only captured one because the other one happened during the booting process, it happened when on its Windows logo over the word Windows.

I'm not up to speed on dump files so I can't help you there. It wouldn't hurt to check the BIOS options for Video to see if the add-in card is set to first device. My BIOS default is Int,PCI,PCIe so I switch it to PCIe,PCI,Int to speed up the boot process..
