I'm trying to get XBMC to work on my system. It refuses to start stating that:

"MS default OpenGL drivers detected. Please get OpenGL drivers from your video card vendor

It's an older system running a ATI RADEON 9600XT Graphic card.

I have tried both
ATI 9-7_vista32_win7_32_dd_ccc_wdm_enu.exe

and
ATI 9-3_1_legacy_vista32-64_dd_ccc.exe

Drivers without success.

Is there an update OpenGL.dll other that the default MS files that can replace the existing DLL?

There must be some way to get this tpo work.

First get openglview to know what ver Opengl is supported by your card. In openglview it will suggest places to get that ver. You may have to just install just the open gl.

edit you can get opengl here http://www.opengl.org/

Ken,

Here is the print out, Ver 1.1 is installed and it looks as if ver 1.2 may be supported. Beyond that they ALL indicate that they are unsupported.

Latest version of display drivers found
According the database, you are running the latest display drivers for your video card.

No ICD registry entry
The current OpenGL driver doesn't expose the SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows (NT)/CurrentVersion/OpenGLDrivers registry entry. Unable to detect the driver version, driver revision name and filename.

No hardware support
Your current video configuration DOES NOT support hardware accelerated OpenGL.

No compiled vertex array support
This may cause performance loss in some applications.

No multitexturing support
This may cause performance loss in some applications.

No secondary color support
Some applications may not render polygon highlights correctly.

No S3TC compression support
This may cause performance loss in some applications.

No texture edge clamp support
This feature adds clamping control to edge texel filtering. Some programs may not render textures correctly (black line on borders.)

No vertex program support
This feature enables vertex programming (equivalent to DX8 Vertex Shader.) Some current or future OpenGL programs may require this feature.

No fragment program support
This feature enables per pixel programming (equivalent to DX9 Pixel Shader.) Some current or future OpenGL programs may require this feature.

No OpenGL Shading Language support
This may break compatibility for applications using per pixel shading.

No Frame buffer object support
This may break compatibility for applications using render to texture functions.

Few texture units found
This may slow down some applications using fragment programs or extensive texture mapping.

what build of win 7 are you on? How long have you been running it? what is xbmc? I think we probably should start un-installing things. Are there any errors in event viewer (type event viewerr in search) under app or system?

At some point it is just going to be easier for you to re-install. let me know when you reach that point.

I've always wondered what OpenGL was since my Intel GMA X3100 uses OpenGL, how do I find the latest version I have?

My video drivers are all updated, 8.15.1825 x64 for GM965 Express.

Opengl is used by many graphic intensive apps (games, astronomy, etc) that speeds the display rate for apps written in GL. Initially written for the mac its been ported over. to find out what version your vid card supports download openglviewer and run it.

opengl viewer is saying that your card support gl 2.x does it show that opengl 3.0 is supported at all (more than 0 %)?

You go to your vid card and download the latest driver. it might fix if the hware supports 3.0

alex look back in this thread carolinaguy posted his. you will see that in his case it fully supports 1.1, then only partially supports 1.2, but gives 0% support for 2.0

did you install your vid driver on the re-install or did win 7 intall the driver for you? You might have to stop win 7 from going on line and updating your drivers until you have installed the ati driver.

I dont know

I installed
C:\ATI\Support\9-7_vista32_win7_32_dd_ccc_wdm_enu

I then install OpenGL95.exe

I then install XBMC.exe

Found this on-line
. It should be noted that XBMC requires OpenGL 1.4 support, at a minimum, to function. We do however recommend OpenGL 2.0 to fully experience XBMC. Check your graphics drivers to see what version of OpenGL your GPU (graphics processing unit) supports.

So I guess the video card does not support it.

THANKS for the help.

But wait, it said 1 thing is compatable for 3.1, is there a driver download for that? or is it only integrated into the video card itself?
