Windows 7 hp 64 bit/HP Pavillion dv6 notebook pc
ssd 1tb Touro
(everything is backed up as well as system image to ehd)
also did a system repair disc
I used EaseUS clone disk wizard to clone OS. Everything went well (or so I thought). Changed boot order (BIOS),tried to boot from ssd- didn't work. Booted from repair disc & went through recovery options/ start-up repair 3+ times.. ssd still would not boot.
Followed a few tutorials that had me do basically the same thing.. still not working.
Tried christopher heiser's "fix a broken or missing bootloader in windows 7"... didn't work.
Went through tutorial from EasyBCD, tried automated repair, manually repairing windows bootloader & nuclear Holocaust..
All the commands completed (nuclear holocaust) added new entry.. everything was ok.
But it is still not booting :(
Please help!
I hate to be a pain & even ask this question b/c I know there are tutorials everywhere to do this but something just isn't going right & before I wipe my ssd and spend another day cloning my OS, I figured I would ask..
I also seem to of gained a few additions to my ssd (the * in the photo). Here is what my drives look like via EaseUS-attached.
Thanks for your help!
Bre

Try removing the old HDD, than do Start up Repair.

I've noticed that my repair disk does not have bootsect.exe.. could that be part of the problem?
theog- do you mean to physically remove my hdd? I am on a laptop & was trying to avoid taking it apart but if that is what I need to do then please verify.
Thanks much!

Ok. I removed my hdd.
Booted from cd/dvd
Windows loaded files, I selected US for keyboard input method, windows recovery options searched for installs..
Installs found were:
Microsoft Windows partition size 463192mb (E:)
Windows 7 HP 0mb (unknown)
Selected the 1st install then 1st radio button
Start-up repair ran ("Your computer was unable to start")
That took me to the HP recovery manager
Selected run check-up
Option, Launch check disk for recovery partition (a command window flashed up and then closed before I could read it)
Exit-reboot
I ran through this 3 times..
ssd still not booting-
Rebooted from Cd/Dvd again
windows loads files, searched for installs (same results as above)
Went through start up repair
at the HP recovery manager I selected command prompt
entered:
bootrec /fixmbr (completed successfully)
bootrec /fixboot (completed successfully)
bootrec /rebuildbcd (total identified Windows installs :0 completed successfully)
Rebooted recovery disk
Windows loads files-system recovery- start-up repair
Recovery manager- run check-up launch check disk recovery partition
Screen now shows:
"Boot device not found
Please install an OS on your hard disk
hard disk <3FO>
F2 system diagnostics"
So I selected F2 & did a start-up test and a run-in test
they both passed system memory but said hard disk does not exist
Rebooted-Windows loaded files.. same results with start-up repair/recovery manager
Re-installed hdd & here I am.
Please advise.
Thank you
