Outlook 2010 x64 Preview Handlers not working

Guys, it's like this:
Was using Office 2007 on Windows 7 x64. Did a complete uninstall, cleaned up registry, removed ALL add ins. Rebooted, everything working OK.
Did a clean Office 2010 (technet rtm) 64bit full install. Imported from backup my pst file and rules, contacts, etc.

Outllook works fine except preview handlers. I can preview pdf (using acrobat 9 handler), jpg, txt, but I CAN NOT PREVIEW OFFICE FILES, AKA EXCEL WORD OR POWERPOINT

The preview handlers are installed, I downloaded Stephen Toub's Preview Handler Association Editor, the handlers for office files ARE present, but I get a message in preview pane saying "This file cannot be previewed because there is no previewer installed for it! :mad2:
Please any ideas someone ????

I have exactly the same problem, have been searching for ages for the answer but have failed. The only difference I have is that I have Office 2007 and have upgraded to Outlook 2010 all 32bit versions, running on Windows 7 64 Bit.

NikK, I have not found answers either. In fact I uninstalled x64 Office and went for x86 office. (On 7 x64). Everything works, previewers, add ins, social connectors, etc.
MS definitly does NOT have Office x64 ready for prime time. Shame on them

I have Microsoft Office x64 installed on two computers with Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and have no problems with previewers for Excel, Word or Powerpoint in Outlook.
Have you tried a repair of Office or a reinstall?

pbcopter, I tried everything. Off course I will NOT do a windows fresh install, I got my system just as I like it after a LOT of work. I believe in moving on to x64, but when it works. To many add ons for office are not available as x64, to many bugs.
So, I'll just wait, meanwhile I'm trying out some alternatives for outlook on linux, let's see what happens.

Even Microsoft themselves advise against the use of 64 Bit office unless you need the ability to use huge databases or spreadsheets, as the lack of x64 compatible add-ons is a major issue at present.

I would suggest that unless you have a need for the extra features you stick to the x86 version until the add-ons situation is resolved, which may even be the next version of office.

I would say "IF" the add-ons situation is resolved ... MS is not showing much interest it this, maybe lack of competition, don´t know...

I am not sure if people are still having issues with this. However I finally found a small workaround. I am using office 2010 and Windows 7 Enterprise.

I have been running the office programs in compatability mode for XP Service pack 3. This changes the looks of the screens, but at least the preview is working.

P.S. You may need to turn the preview on once started in compatability mode.
