Solved Overclocking XFX 5870 non Reference ZNFC

I am hoping someone can help me on this one. I am upgrading (and have already ordered) XFX's 5870 model HD-587X-ZNFC. After ordering, I realize that this video board is not the reference version and I have read mutiple posts that say it does not allow voltage tuning. I have MSI Afterburner and I can see that there is a slider for voltage, but with my current 5770, it is not adjustable, leading me to believe that this is a non reference board as well. It also has the ZNFC designation in the part number. However, I can still tune the GPU and memory in both Afterburner and CCC.

My question is if anyone knows if this will also be the case for the new 5870? Will I still be able to slightly OC the GPU and memory, even though I will not be able to adjust the voltages?

You should be able to flash the cards BIOS to allow it, but I don't recommend it (at all).

You should be able too in the ccc amd overdrive you can adjust the core clock and memory settings also increase fan speed no need to use msi but if you rather use it go ahead

You're right. It looks like there is no voltage adjustment for that card, so your OC will be limited to what the stock voltages can do.

I have to say the card is good already why do you want to play with voltage if you want a voltage tweek card get the asus 6870 50% voltage tweek

Thank you all for your comments and you have confirmed what I suspected (smarteyeball). Solarstarshines, I do not want to play with the voltage, but will likely do a Auto Tune in CCC to help the overal Win Experience Index#. I was just curious if with a non-reference board comes a limitation of voltage tweeking and I see now that it does. The only thing I have changed the voltage on is the CPU and that is because it bumped to 4.1 ghz.

Not a problem at all just was curious as why you wanted to know about voltage tweeks

you can use the auto tune feature but you can also manul tune it These cards by ati 5000 series and 6000 series are great oc'ers you can basicly crank it all the way up ( ALMOST ) I do say this cautiously but you can set it pretty high for demanding games But honestly you will get a small gain if any those cards are pretty fast being stock already
