Hi all,
i am permanently operating on win7 64-bit 6.1 (Build 7601: Service Pack 1). i test continually on this build and i never update.
soon after i finished windows install i turned off system protection, disabled all crash dump logging, update, and deleted all system restore points. i also routinely do complete disk cleanups.
i noticed many times on several systems i have installed, that the restore point maximum usage never stays at 0% (xmb/xgb). ok, i know the current usage is 0, but not the maximum usage figure set. and though i continue to do cleanups on my system disk, this maximum keeps creeping up. something like : few days ago, at 1% (1.34gb), today 1% (2.33gb), tomorrow 1% (2.38gb).
even if it means nothing is actually stored, i would like to open this panel every single time seeing a 0% (0b). someone has mentioned the min of this max is 350mb.
i have also read this tutorial in the past and i think it is a great tutorial on eliminating shadow copies :-
Shadow Copies - Delete
but i am aware writing shadow copies is part of window's operating process, so what i am actually asking here is, can anyone instruct me how to (even if by regedit/gpedit.msc) PERMANENTLY DISABLE windows from ever writing any form of shadow copy again, until i reformat. it's not about the space, i am just asking if this can be done. to compel windows to break rules.
Regards.
ps. not really about 'why'; more of a 'how' question.
