Permission not granted to access files even after taking ownership

I have a 250gb hard drive from an old PC that has ALOT of pictures ,videos, and music stored on. The PC was running Window XP. It died and I removed the hard drive and bought an enclosure to install it in. I have it hooked to a newer PC running Windows 7. At 1st when I pulled up the folders with the pictures ,videos , or music in them it told me I did not have permission to access the files. I went to security and changed ownership of the files and allowed full control of the files. I am the administrator on the PC. It allows me to open the folder after this displaying the individual files, such as pictures for example. But when you click on the individual pictures in the folder it still says I don't have permission. I can grant myself permission for each file individually one at a time and can view the pictures or videos at that point. It does the same for the music folders. I have to change ownership of one song at a time to listen to them. Someone please help. I know there has to be a way to change ownership of all these files at one time. I even tried taking ownership of the whole hard drive. It shows me as owner of the folder and shows I have full control. It will take me forever to change them over one at a time as there are literally thousands of pictures and at least as many songs.

Thank you for the reply but I have Windows 7 and it already has the take ownership tab built in. I have taken ownership and it shows me as owner. It also shows I have full control. I just can't open each individual file in the folder without individually taking ownership of each picture or song.

Hi you have Take ownership on the right click context menu list ?
The link was to a Vista tutorial but I assure you it works for Windows 7 as well I used it on an old x-p hd I put in a enclosure as well and it works flawlessly,
