Solved Pesky mouse

I use a Logitech mouse. And find after about 3 months or so the on-screen pointer getting wobbly & heavy to move around as if it's drunk or drugged. Eventually I toss it in the bin and buy another one.


Are logitech mouses that bad or can I tweek some settings in Win 7?

Been using Logitech, (now Logi) for many years without any issues at all, as I sit here I am typing on a K350 Keyboard, and using an MX Master 2S Mouse.

Obviously as with anything there are different levels of quality that is directly related to the price you pay, also all Logitech Mice should come with a copy of, (or these days link to), either the Older Setpoint Software or the later Options Software this will depend on the actual mouse you have, (these are compatibility sections on the web that My links lead to

Of course the very design of a mouse can suit one person better than another, one option is to visit an old style Bricks and Mortar store where they sell a good range, if the store does not allow a potential buyer to "try before you buy" then move on to the next

Thanks. Just ordered one higher up in the range. For sure it's a quality issue as you mentioned.

I have found that sometimes a hair or other small object gets in the laser hole on the bottom of the mouse and causes problems similar to yours..

Last time that happed to me, I pulled it apart and literally washed all the bits with the exception of the pcb.
quite easy really.
Nice warm soapy water, if you have an old toothbrush so much the better.
the shell splits apart top from bottom.
The pcb comes off in one unit then you are good to go.

I've also found hair under the laser, even though my cat doesn't go up on my desk. I had to clean a mouse too, as there was dust and fuzz inside, but I didn't go as far as soap-and-water. The dirt is usually around the wheel.

Yeah, it really gets mucked up inside...Next time throw it in the washing machine..On the 'gentle' setting of course...LOL

Forgive me, if I ask the obvious....."why don't you just CLEAN the dang thing?"


Do you trade off your car when the ash tray gets full?


Or throw away your clothes when they get dirty?


As a Computer Tech, I've run dozens of service calls where the solution to the problem was to CLEAN something. (Mice, keyboards, cpu coolers, etc.) I've even Washed RAM to get rid of BSOD's, crashes, etc.

I got a new logitech mouse last july and I'm still using it for work. If you throw them out after 3 months then either you aren't maintaining it, you bought an extremely cheap one, and/or (no offense) it's you.
