Please Help. Internet dropping out

This is my second post about this problem as the first had no reply and this problem is driving me crazy.
My internet access will keep dropping out randomly.
i have done several ping tests and to google when the internet drops out it says Request timed out.
it says request timed out when i ping my modem(192.168.1.254) as well when my internet drops out.
I have recently bought a PCI network card from TP-Link (TG-3269) and it has done nothing to solve my problem.
I have reinstalled the drivers countless times.
Changed the cat5 cable once.
Reinstalled windows Once but the problem persists.
Also this problem only started to happen after i moved house.
And when i took it to a store to get fixed they couldn't duplicate the problem so couldn't fix it.
Please help me on this im diverting to playing console games.....

If you're behind a router... that's the only thing you haven't replaced

It could be a line problem, check with your ISP and have them run a line test.

It can't be the ISP's problem because the other computers work fine. And i'm pretty sure im not behind a router but i'll check. Any other suggestions?

It disconnect again like a minute ago. This time when i did the windows 7 troubleshooter thing it actually came up with a problem. DNS isn't responding hope this can help you help me :X

in your home, IF more than one computer can connect to the internet you are definitely 'behind a router'.
IF your system specs are correct--the 5200 RC--is a router.

How are you connecting the machine that keeps dropping out? Wireless? or Wired?

the 'DNS not responding' make me think you are wireless--probably to far or too obstructed from router antenna--IF wired...could be a bad cable. (when the connection drops...are the other computers still connected?)

I know for a fact im wired. there is however a wireless network in my home but my PC doesn't use it; thats for the laptops and such. My Modem does have the latest firmware. And yes when my computer drops the other computers are still connected.

OK--so the problem is somewhat narrowed down to your machine only.

possible solutions:
1. IF there is another machine with a wired connection in your home--try connecting to that 'exact' line (move your machine to that location)--if problem persists--then it is probably an issue with your machine.
2.IF problem goes away--is possibly a bad ethernet cable, a bad router port, or possibly a bad or incorrectly connected line filter

Usually that happens when two IPs are the same.. but usually windows will let you know there is a duplicate IP on the network.

What if you tried a static IP address on the computer... that will narrow some of the issues down.

If and only if the dynamic ip server on your router is conflicting with your PC.

Another thing, can you check your firewall... can you shut your firewall off TEMP to see if its staying online or not.

Another thing is check the firewall with your router...I know this may be a long shot but do a Full restore on the routers configuration file... make sure you back it up first because if the flash doesn't work then you can restore your previous settings.


Another... just to narrow some problems down.. can you change the LAN port that is going to your computer and move it to another port. Possible to one that you know is working with another computer.

Ok so im pretty sure its not a bad wire as i've replaced that, i have changed the port this computer uses to a known working one but to no avail. However i did take it once to a local computing shop to get fixed but they couldn't duplicate the problem so was unable to solve the problem.
I would like to try the static IP test but i have no idea on how to do that. Does static IP on this computer just mean that it always has the same IP adress?

So i set up the static IP for the PC but that didn't work so i guess it wasn't an IP clash. Any other suggestions?

reading through all your posts, makes me think there is more than one network in your home. IF so...try connecting to the other network (you said when you took your machine to a shop, they could not duplicate the problem--I assume that means the machine functioned properly) it would seem the problem is not with your machine--but with your network connection and /or router--like I said try connecting to another network--(reset to dynamic IP first) If problem disappears--then only thing left--is your router or related connection--inversely--try connecting another computer in your home to your connection--IF it act the same as yours--then the problem is definitely with your connection/router.

Well i only have one network in my home however i could try and connect using a wired connection to the wireless router i have that also has lan ports. Might try it tomorrow and see if i have any luck with that.

in my neighborhood I can see about 6 or 7 available connections, in addition to my own. Some are connectable as they are 'unsecured'. signal strengths vary. I know some computers can be configured to 'search for any available connection'. Is it possible you could be automatically connecting to something like these? i'm sure drop-outs would be common in this scenario

it has been established there is only ONE network in your house.

how many modems? (your original post says you try to ping 'your modem')
how many routers?

I think your machine is fine--the problem lies somewhere in your connection!

one incoming internet line--should have ONE modem.
you can have more than one router-but the additional routers need to be setup as 'switches' connection to the primary router--which should be connected to the the ONE modem.

Yes i believe that is how the network at my home is set up.
I only have 1 modem but i have a router connected to it as well but im not sure on how its configured ill go check up on it when i get the chance. Anyway Thanks for trying to help i hope we can get this thing to work.

Okay, you are using Windows 7 Professional .. so you have the option to do this for us...

can you snip a photo of your Windows 7 Network Map under your Network and Sharing Settings. That way we will have an understanding.... Also, can you snip us a copy of : ipconfig /all through "cmd"

That way we can look at IP address, DNS servers and gateways.

Alright attached are these things. We changed the modem to the one bigpond gave us recently but i haven't been able to test it thouroughly yet. Also i don't know why the network map doesn't want to show.

Lets try updating your drivers....

If you can right click on the properties of your NIC card in your device manager. Check the true model of your NIC card.

Just go here and download the latest driver... check again..

Also, Uncheck your TCPv6 adapter as well if your not using Home Group.

We just need to narrow down the problem so we are just going to try a few other things

If you could as well... lets put static IPs on your TCPv4:

IP: 10.0.0.10
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 10.0.0.138

I would try different DNS Numbers:
by default on your router it gives you: 10.0.0.138
