PowerPoint 2007 - Text boxes do not change with Slide Master

Hi all,

I have an issue with some text not changing when I change the slide master!

Here's what I did...A PPT presentation was devised with simple text contained within it. I wanted to amend the font and background colour, so I went to the slide master and made the changes I wanted. The background seemed to change but the text font remained the same!

I believe the problem lies where that the original document had a blank slide, and a text box was added to that slide, with text then put into it. This text seems to be the text that doesn't change when the slide master is amended.

Is there a way of being able to change the the text in the slides that have had these added text boxes added?

That doesn't seem to work. The slide masters (all of them), look exactly as I want them, but the original documents still look the same. I have shortened the .pptx doc to 3 slides and there's a link to the document below.

Hello Glenn -

The fonts (family, size, color) of an existing PowerPoint presentaion can be changed ALMOST in bulk by editing the master slides. I same "almost" because there may be some slides that were not created with a master slide and those require individual slide editing.

As an example, here is a seven slide portion of a presentation. In all slides the Arial font is changed to BauHaus 93 (just to make it visually easy to distinguish).

The process I use is to edit all master/submaster slides and those "rogue" slides that don't update. (There may be other and better methods but this is what I follow.)

The procedure is to:

1. Switch to Slide Master view
2. Individually select each slide and change each text section to Bauhaus 93. In the example there are five masters/submasters with numerous text sections and levels - EACH must be changed.
3. Exit the Slide Master view to save changes.
4. Manual open and check each slide in the presentation.
5. Manually edit those slides that did not update as desired.
6. Save the presentation.

Example Screenshots

Open the presentation (in Normal view).

View of source fonts (Arial in various sizes, colors).

Expand the ribbon if it is collapsed. Click the View tab.

Select each master/submaster slide for editing (one at a time).

Select a text area (do each on the slide as desired).

Right-click to invoke the edit function pop up.

Click the font drop list down arrow and select the desired font. Also edit the size, colr, etc. as desired from this dialog pop up.

On the Master Slide ribbon click the Close Master View button.

Those presentation slide associated with the edited master/submaster slide will update to the new edits.

Check each presentation slide for the desired appearence. Here there is one slide that did not update to the Bauhaus 93 font - it must be manually updated.

Hey GEWB,

Thanks for the time and effort on this. I had tried the 'Slide Master' process, but it's the "rogue" slides that are the issue! I think what has happened is that a blank slide was used, with text boxes then added to that blank slide. Those text boxes do not act the same way when you change the slide master, and I know have a full presentation that needs changing (to be dyslexic compliant). Looks like a very time consuming manual edit for me!!

Jeez pal, I was only hoping for a quick fix!! Not that I don;t appreciate it, but you don't have to go 'above and beyond'.
