Hi

I cant install a printer in my XP-MODE.
Whats the guide/Faq ?

First I tried do some regular windows share, but that did not work.

Then I tried to install (create tcp/port) but it cant even ping the machine (!) so another failback.

I have NAT activated.

It sounds like the VM is not connected to the network, or cant process network traffic through a NAT port. Can you Log into the virtual machine and open ie and browse to Google.com to see if it can get online?

I got around that problem in Virtual PC by changing the VM Network Adapter 1 setting to the physical NIC on my machine. After rebooting everything, the shares came up fine, as well as printing.

You should also check to see if the integration features are actually enabled. Quick guide on how to enable them at Enable Integration Features for an XP Mode Virtual Machine

network is fine (NAT)

Weird, I got to a point when installing the printer inside virtual mode.
But when send printjob, some drivers must have messed up because the printer fired out papers with just random "#5 crap symbols

(this occurs often when installing wrong driver)

1. So it worked ! (printjob was send from virtual mode to host printer):)
2. But it didnt work out the way I wanted (messed up )

So are you saying you can print from the Windows 7 host, and the virtual machine cannot?

Make sure the driver you are trying to use in the VM is meant for Windows XP.

I'm surprised the Integration feature isn't pulling this through for you. Are you using the real Windows XP mode, or are you using VMWare/Virtual box?

See my quote with new highlight/bolds to point out important distinction

1. The printjob was created and output send from virtual xp-mode
2. The windows 7 [HOST] works fine
3. The virtual machine finally could obviously send something to the printer [bounce through HOST]
4. But the printjob to the printer was crap, it received mumbo-jambo

I do believe it will work, If I just change the driver as you mention.

Sounds like its a matter of just finding the right driver. You have the CD that came with the printer? Hope the best!
