i have 10 computers and s router i want to setup a private network with static ip add & no internet access. what do i do and how,
what ip should i start with and how do i get the gateway and the DNS ip's

Private IP addresses that you can use for your environment:

10.0.0.0 - 10.255.255.255 (10.0.0.0/8)

172.16.0.0 - 172.31.255.255 (172.16.0.0/12)

192.168.0.0 - 192.168.255.255 (192.168.0.0/16)

169.254.0.0 - 169.254.255.255 (169.254.0.0/16)

   Note

The address range of 169.254.0.0/16 is Automatic Private IP addressing and you will not be able to use a default gateway with this type of addressing. Unless you need to I would avoid using this final one

Public IP addresses you could use:

192.0.2.0 - 192.0.2.255 (192.0.2.0/24)

198.51.100.0 - 198.51.100.255 (198.51.100.0/24)

203.0.113.0 - 203.0.113.255 (203.0.113.0/24)


You could use any of the above for addressing though you would typically use the private IP address ranges at the top for your scenario. If you wish to prevent internet access and you are statically assigning the addressing then you can simply not input a default gateway or DNS. These two fields are optional with only an address and subnet mask being necessary.
