Microsoft gives those possibilities for a 0xC004C008 Error

Your computer's hardware has been changed.

Windows 7 was reinstalled on the same computer.

Your Windows 7* product key was transferred from another computer.

The *Windows 7 product key that you're trying to use has already been used on the maximum number of computers that your license allows.

In your case I would suspect the last one.

How can I find out which one it is? and what would be the best option to correct this error?

Call Microsoft and check the validity of the key with them. I would think that the first 3 situations you would know about.

If the key is no good, block the payment on your credit card.

Please follow this tutorial and post an MGADiag report - then we can see what the problem is.

Ignore errors produced when clicking on the Copy button - they simply mean that the tool could not create the backup files for some reason. The data is still copied to the clipboard for pasting to your response.

Please also state the Version and Edition of Windows quoted on your COA sticker (if you have one) on the case of your machine (or inside the battery compartment), but do NOT quote the Key on the sticker!
