hello,

In win7 64 bit, checked the device manager for no particular reason and an icon had a yellow shield w/exclamation mark - error message is "problem with system interrupt controller". computer is working fine far as I can tell. a google search was kind of generic that it is a driver problem of some sort. tried the reinstall driver trick but that did not change anything.

have not checked device manager in vista 64 bit yet (it is the other OS on this same computer) to see if the error is occuring there as well.

suppose that as nothing seems to be working wrong it's no big deal?

intel tried to put a trojan on our computer?

after going in circles a bit tracking down information we ended up at inte.com to download a program that would analyze our computer to see if we needed any intel updates. had to use IE and allow active X to get that analyzer to run. our virus program clicked in and said to block installing that analyzer because it was a trojan. so that activity got cancelled right away.

well so much for either the antivirus or intel, not sure what is true here.

went to nvidia to look for updates but they do not list windows 7 in the OS dropdown list so we could not access that search.

in any event the computer seems to working just fine with these ! mark errors.

seems odd that in device manager -> other devices - there are 9 system controllers with the error ! but it doesn't say what devices those actually are other than the sm bus controller (searching for that item is where we ended up at intel.com)

we will check the gigabyte install disk and see if there are any things on that about an sm bus controller.
