hi....
I'm new here, and I have problem right now...
recently, I just upgraded my Acer Aspire 4530 from Windows Vista Ultimate to Windows 7 Professional...
all the drivers work, but I have problem with my USB Wifi Bluelink BL-U80G with Ralink RT7x/RT257x chipset...
I usually use the USB to connect my Wii console game to the internet, so I use the AP Mode from the device...
in Vista, it's working fine until recently I've always got BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) on my notebook everytime Wii connected to the internet...

so I decided to upgrade Windows from Vista to 7, but right now the USB device isn't working at all...
I've already downloaded the latest driver from Ralink's website, but it still didn't work...
usually, there's light always blinking from the device everytime it get connected to notebook, but right now, the light isn't blinking... but it feels warm everytime I touched it...
it also can't scan any Wifi connection nearby, and everytime I switch from Station Mode (the default mode) into AP Mode, it always failed... :(

does anyone can help me with my problem?
I've tried every drivers in Ralink's website, but it's still not working... :(
thanks for all your help... :)

Hi bagoesyaha,
There is a updated chipset driver from Acer website. Here is the link below. Choose the acer laptop you have then choose Windows 7 x32 and u will see a chipset download dated 2009/10/26. Hopefully this will resolve the USB issue.

Wonder what would happen if you did a clean install of Windows 7 rather than the upgrade? hmmm Clean install seems best to me.

Have you checked device manager to see if the device shows up properly?

No real help from me I'm afraid, just another report of Ralink driver problems with Windows 7 64bit.
I have mailed the Tenda (Brand) support address, but a mail to Ralink (Chip Maker) themselves might prove more fruitful.

I recently purchased Tenda 541U 'G' (Ralink RT73) and Tenda W311U 'N' (Ralink 3070L IC) wireless USB adapters.
Both install and work as they should with Windows XP and my own machine running Windows 7.
However on a new Core i5 build using an Intel 955 based board with 4G ram, once the drivers are installed the devices are recognized but the installing USB device part of the process seizes, eventually timing out after 5 minutes.
No version of the drivers (Ralinks own, Microsoft Update ones, Tendas (bundled Ralink)) seems to allow either device to be installed on the new machine.

In addition, whilst either of these devices is plugged in they prevent new USB devices from being recognized - Windows 7 device manager seems to be tied-up.

Looks to be a driver compatibility issue with Windows 7 and Ralink, but given that almost all the alternative budget wireless devices I've looked at seem to be Ralink based the solution is probably going to be the purchase of a more expensive device from a different ASIC designer.

ei, got the same error and issue just like the author of this thread.

my Ralink R73 perfectly split/shared my LAN connection (DSL connection) when i used XP however when i changed my OS, had a clean install of the OS, and used the original installer of the driver, is failed to split/share the connection.

i installed and tried many old and recent installer for RALINK access point utility, dis some installing and installing of the driver, and other possible remedies (whom i think was good remedies) to solve this issue.

i read that the original poster solved his connection issue but i boiled down by not identifying the real meat of the issue - by giving the exact solution.

hope that computer techies and windows 7 geeks could help me solve this connection issue.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

BTW: mine is not a chipset, it is a USB type.
