Problem with DNS services within my laptop running Windows 7 Pro

Just an update:

I was testing with a usb to ethernet adapter and when I connected that, my main Ethernet adapter's IP address changed from 192.168.10.10 to 169.254.x.x automatically and I lost Internet connection!

I tried to change that manually but within the adapter settings it's always 192.168.10.10 but not updating while checking from cmd.

I had to reboot my computer and then I saw that IP address setting was changed to DHCP but DNS settings was kept as it was. After manually defining IP again I am able to browse after few minutes.

Thanks,
Suranjit

Are you multi-homing? As in do you have multiple connections to multiple networks? Windows doesn't like being assigned 2 default gateways from separate interfaces as it falls back to host based routing.

I've had similar issues that you have had with such case. Equally, I found it also does a similar action when doing interface bridging.

Of course, if you had DHCP these issues would be resolved.

Hmm.... From what I can see the initial issue is resolved however I'd keep monitoring it.

Josh :)

Initially, I had multiple connections but to make sure that is not the issue, I had disabled all connection except only one connection at a time but no avail.
I will update later with my findings.

Thank you.
