Problem with eSATA powered USB

B420, The PCI card you are thinking of buying will give you speeds of what you already have with high speed USB 2.0. You still have to understand the difference in theoretical speeds and actual speeds. Yes, the USB card is capable of 480 mbps, but that is theoretical. You will never see those speeds. What you already have with your USB 2.0 ports is theoretically capable of the same speeds. To get the speeds you want, you are going to have to find a way to add USB 3.0 ports to your computer, or get an eSATA enclosure or use the SATA cable I showed you and leave USB out of the equation all together. Personally, I think of it as language, but call it hardware or language or anything else; USB has much more overhead than eSATA. I have and use all 3. I can assure you that esata will give you the best speeds, but with the external you have you are going to see USB 2.0 speeds unless you add USB 3.0 ports to your computer or buy an external esata dock or enclosure with a standard hard drive.
