Hi,
I have been having problems with my computer for a while but haven't had to time to get some help. Its started to really annoy me now so it needs to be resolved.

My computer loads perfectly and runs well until I get go to get a drink, answer the door or even just read an article on internet. When I get back everything is really slow, unbearable slow. The problem can happen with as little as 20-30 seconds of inactivity. It doesn't have common symptoms of lag e.g a wait cursor or slow changing between windows. I don't even realise its slow until I try to open a program, folder or type a web address in a already open browser. For example when I press enter/go after typing in a web address it just stays on the current page like it hasn't even noticed I have clicked then randomly 5-10 minutes later something might happen. Its the same when shutting down, it makes me wait about 3-5 minutes. Most of the time recently I gave up and just pressed the reset button my case.

I am currently overclocked but that isn't the problem, as I had this problem at stock speed and on my old motherboard. Windows has been fully reinstalled at least 2 times since changing the motherboard and at least once before that and the problems still remains. I have tested my Hard drive and my Ram so I am not really sure what to do now.

I appreciate any help, thanks Rob.

Post back either way. If this does not work, there may be other suggestions that will.

Well I tried that method and it seems to have worked. I had no problem when the start-up's for my anti virus (PC tools w/ anti virus) were turned off.

Then it failed to start my anti virus after I enabled it again. A quick reinstall of the anti virus and its working again.

The problem has not happened since, but I am still not convinced it is fixed because I'v tried a clean reinstall of windows and a reinstall of anti virus before and it never solved it. I will see how its goes.

Thanks for your help, Rob.
