Dear All,

I want to back up a copy of my own user files but get the error message;

I have administrator privilege levels etc but get the following message

"the action cannot be completed because the file is open in system......ntuser.dat.

The only way I seem able to back up "my" user's files is if I log out and log back in as another administrator!

This is so frustrating - does anyone know how I can get around this problem?

Ideally, All I want to do is copy/paste the "user" folder on the c drive to my backup drive.

I know there are formal windows backup routines but this is not what I want to do in this instance - all i want is to copy my files across to this new drive.

Any ideas why this ntuser problem arises and how I can get around it?

Thanks for reading

What partition are you trying to backup to what other partition?

What drive is/are the partition(s) on which you desire to back up to which drive?
